Property tax on land

Tax on land is implemented 2019

23 April, 2018 Tax on land will be implemented from 2019. The tax will be based on an appraised value of parcels. The appraised value shall reflect the market value and is determined through an official nationwide appraisal. You can see a preliminary result of the appraisal in our value zone maps. You can also visit your municipal property tax office to find out value zones, value levels and preliminary appraised value.

To avoid a sudden high increase of the tax to pay only 20% of the appraised value will be subject to tax the first year. All persons liable to pay property tax on parcels will get a bill in January. If you are liable to pay property tax for buildings you will get a bill covering both land and buildings.

According to the new law on Tax on Immovable Property the tax rates shall be determined by the Municipal Assembly not later than November 30. When they are determined they will be published on this website. The law allows the tax rates to vary according to the following:

Property category Tax rate for parcels
Agricultural 0,15-0,5%
Forest 0,15-0,3%
Residential 0,15-1%
Commercial 0,15-1%
Industrial 0,15-0,8%
